Who can play Academy?
Any player who will be a U9 or U10 player for the Fall season is eligible to join the academy program. Every effort will be made to place any player wishing to play academy that is a U9/U10 player. In addition, each season there are a limited number of places available for U8 players who are ready for more challenge and wish to help 'fill out' the academy teams. There is no guarantee that a U8 player will be accepted. Players are not liminited to their home club - players can try out at any metro club they feel is a good fit.

Evaluations are typically held the end of June or first of July for CVFC. During the April/May time frame, dates/times/locations of evaluations for each age division will be posted here.

Where are evaluations?
Evaluations will usually be held at the Cornwell soccer fields in Yukon. They may also be held at Mustang Wildhorse park or other locations as determined appropriate.
How many teams and positions will be filled?
There is not a set number of teams or players per age division. As many teams and players as can be formed with the set of players and available coaches will be formed.
What should my player bring to evaluations?
June in Oklahoma is usually very hot - bring plenty of water and make sure players hydrate in the days leading up to evaluations. The normal soccer gear is required - cleats and shin guards.
What should be expected at evaluations?
There will be 1 evaluation session for each age division. Sessions are typically 1 - 1.5 hours and will consists of drills and scrimmage time. Evaluations typically look a lot like a practice. Players will need to sign in for the session. Parents will be able to observe from a distance, but they are not allowed on the fields with the players.
The session will be like a practice session. All players of the same gender and age will practice together doing individual ball skill and team drills including scrimmage time. All players will participate.
After the session, all players will go home. Players or parents will not be told what team the player is placed on at that time. At the end of the day, the coaches will gather to determine the best way to divide the players to form like-ability teams. The coach of the team your child is placed on will contact you by phone within 48 hours.
Do I need to bring any money to evaluations?
No. You may be asked to complete a registration form to gather contact information, but you will not need to pay until after your child has been placed on a team.
There will be a parent meeting within 2 weeks of evaluations. At that time you will need to pay registration fees, first month's training fees, and purchase training t-shirts and uniform kits (if applicable).

My player is offered a spot on a team - now what?
Your coach will tell you when the first practice session is. Practices begin in July or August and will typically be twice a week.
My player is offered a spot but it is not on the first team - what does that mean?
Academy is about player development. Teams will not be designated as first, second, or third - but rather by the Coach's name. Please try to refrain from ranking the teams. Players will be placed with the team of kids who are most like them in ability. During the season, it is common that players will move from team to team or guest play with other teams as the opportunities arise. Academy teams will play primarily Friendlies (games with no score or standings) and tournaments. The nature of Friendlies allows us to be flexible in moving players around with different groups.

We won't be here during evalations - what do we do?
Contact the Director of Academy ,Keith Hagen, to see if any special arrangements can be made.
We just moved here or my child decided they want to play?
Contact the coach of the team or the Director of Academy, Keith Hagen, to see if there are any openings. It is not uncommon for players to join the Academy program mid season if space permits.
What if I sign up and change my mind later?
You can remove your player from the academy team between seasons (Fall and Spring). If you choose to remove the player mid season, a partial refund may or may not be available depending on the timing. Players in the Academy program are allowed to return to recreational teams without restrictions.
If my player is on an academy team will they be guaranteed a spot on a competitive team?
No. Academy is about development. In the Academy program, all players wanting to participate are encouraged. Competitive teams are formed by try out. As many competitive teams as can compete will be formed, but that does not guarantee all players a place. However, it is to your players advantage to have participated in the Academy program. CVFC coaches will have had the opportunity to see your child play and your child will have been exposed to quality coaches.
