Tryouts are typically held the last week of May for CVFC. During the April/May time frame, dates/times/locations of tryouts for each age division will be posted here.

Where are tryouts?
Tryouts will usually be held at the Cornwell soccer fields in Yukon. They may also be held at Mustang Wildhorse park or other locations as determined appropriate.
How many teams and positions will be filled?
There are not a set number of teams or players per age division. Teams that can be competitive in the league will be formed based on the number and talent of players who tryout. There are multiple levels of competitive divisions available. Players should be encouraged to tryout if they are interested.

What is precamp?
Precamps are "practice" sessions held before the actual tryouts. These are typically run like a normal practice session. Attending a precamp is not an obligation to actually attend tryouts for the team. It is in a players best interest to attend as many precamp sessions as possible because it gives the coaches more opportunities to see and work with the player before tryouts. Precamps will take place in June. Dates, times, and locations for each age division will be posted here.
What should my player bring to precamp and tryouts?
June in Oklahoma is usually very hot - bring plenty of water and make sure players hydrate in the days leading up to camps and tryouts. The normal soccer gear is required - cleats and shin guards.
What should be expected at tryouts?
There are a minimum of 2 and potentially up to 4 tryout sessions. Sessions are typically 1 - 1.5 hours and will consists of drills and scrimmage time. Tryouts typically look a lot like a practice. Players should attend as many tryout sessions as possible. Players will need to sign in for each session. Parents will be able to observe from a distance, but they are not allowed on the fields with the players. During or after the tryout session one of 3 things will happen:
1) The player will be invited to join one of the teams.
2) The player will be asked to return for futher evaluation,
3) The player will be constructively told that they do not fit the player profile that the club is looking for.

My player is told they will not be placed on a team - now what?
Your player has the option of trying out for another club. Check the Frontier Country or other club websites for tryout details. Reassure your child and encourage them to tryout again next year. Competitive tryouts are held before the recreational registration period so that players who do not make competitive teams still have the opportunity to sign up for recreational teams.
Your player does not need to return for additional tryout sessions this year. They are welcome to try again next year - situations change and kids who do not make the team one year have made it in the following years.
My player is offered a spot on a team - now what?
Your player may be offered a position on the red (first), black (second), or other teams as applicable. You and your child should be ready to commit when the position is offered. Unless you are told otherwise, positions will not be held. Players wishing to sign (commit) will immediately register at the registration tent and pay registration fees. Competitive teams are a year long committment and players cannot move clubs except during the open period between seasons providing the club they signed with agrees to release them and there is an opening at another club.
Unless told otherwise, your player should return for all additional tryout sessions held by the team regardless of already signing.
My player is offered a spot but it is not on the first team - what does that mean?
Coaches will form more than one team if there are enough players and the team can be competitive in one of the divisions available. Players should not be discouraged. There are players who made the third team their first year and later were starters on state teams. As teams get older there are more players per team and teams may combine. All of our competitive teams have licensed, skilled coaches and will provide quality soccer training to your player. Teams compete against teams of similar level in other clubs and tournaments providing the best opportunity for player and team development.
We won't be here during tryouts - what do we do?
Contact the coach of the team to see if any special arrangements can be made.
We just moved here or my child decided they want to play?
Contact the coach of the team to see if there are any openings.
What if I sign up and change my mind later?
When you complete the registration form and give a club your check you are signing a one-year contract with that club. You cannot transfer between competitive clubs until the spring season. In order to transfer in the spring, you must go through Frontier Country's transfer procedures; you must be current on your financial obligations at your original club and the new club must have a place for you on a team.

If my player is on an Academy team will they be guaranteed a spot on a competitive team?
No. Academy is about development. In the Academy program, all players wanting to participate are encouraged. Competitive teams are formed by try-out. As many competitive teams as can compete will be formed, but that does not guarantee all players a place. However, it is to your players advantage to have participated in the academy program. CVFC coaches will have had the opportunity to see your child play and your child will have been exposed to quality coaches.
